HOWTO - create a see-through information graphic

This info graphic guide by Vectortuts user Jonathan blew me away. I putz around in Adobe Illustrator from time to time, but I'll be first to admit that I basically have no idea what I'm doing. Maybe after running through a few tutorials like this I'll be able to fake it.

There are some really good tips in here, including how to illustrate from a photograph, choosing line weights, and cleaning up the rough edges.
