This is the Postal Service Statement:
The Postal Service must deliver all properly posted mail. You can, however, reduce the amount of advertising mail you receive by contacting the following organizations to request removal of your name from mailing lists:

Direct Marketing Association

Experian Consumer Services

Up to 90 percent of mailing lists are accessed by this process. Registrants generally note a decrease of unsolicited mail one to three months after their names are listed. Since some customers may receive mail under various names, include alternative names or spellings to ensure that the advertiser's mail is stopped.

In summary, by law we must deliver ALL mail that has been paid for - including your private personal mail and that of businesses and organizations.

I haven't gotten any junk mail in 2 years. None.

How did I do it? I cancelled all my credit cards, began paying them off, and didn't open any new ones. I became a "bad customer" according to the 3 credit bureaus (3 of the 4 entities on your list) because I stopped purchasing their goods.

The downside, of course, is that I have to actually have, you know, MONEY to buy things.

Now if only I can get my electric company to stop sending junk mail in my bill.....

I have less problems with the advertisements with my name on them than I do the mail that is sent to "resident". I happened to ask my mailman how to stop that and here's what he told me: Put "NBM" or "No Bulk Mail" on your mailbox(if you have a "group" mailbox where your whole block gets mail at the same place, you may have to ask your carrier how to handle this) and they won't deliver any mail addressed to Resident or not directly addressed to you.

Just tape their reader reply cards to bricks...

or send the contents of one envelope/reader reply card in another ones envelope... leave your address on if you want to be removed, they hate that :)
