I'm really impressed with the open source collaborative news site platform - NewCloud, worth a quick gander if you're thinking of starting up a site for a particular cause/effort or project. Jeff writes -

NewsCloud is a very intriguing and attractive piece of work for sure, but you'll need some serious linux skills to get it installed. The rest of us can only dream of the day NewsCloud comes with a "famous 5 minute install", a la Wordpress. :)

Well - this is HacksZine :) No seriously, check out our Debian Recipe
- it's a pretty straightforward install if you go that route.

Also - if folks want to get involved in our open source team, making the install more automated would be a great task.

Donations are also welcome...proceeds will go to fund developer hours.
